Testimonials

Richele Taylor, CEO

South Carolina Medical Association

Dr. Root’s exceptional dedication to advancing healthcare and supporting her fellow physicians makes her the ideal candidate for the American Society of Anesthesiologists. Her long-standing service within the South Carolina Medical Association (SCMA) exemplifies her commitment to physician advocacy.  From her early roles as a Resident and Young Physician serving on the SCMA Board, to her impactful leadership as Chair of the SCMA Continuing Medical Education (CME) Committee, Dr. Root has always been involved in organized medicine. She is a trusted physician at the State House and has met with countless legislators on physician issues.

Dr. Root's leadership extends further as Vice Chair of the Board for Fulcrum Risk Solutions, where she plays a vital role in supporting physicians through innovative insurance solutions. Additionally, Dr. Root’s election to the South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners—an honor requiring Senate approval and gubernatorial appointment—demonstrates the trust her peers and state leaders place in her integrity and expertise.  Dr. Root is a proven advocate for improving healthcare policy at the state and national levels.

It is with great enthusiasm that I endorse Dr Jennifer Root for ASA Assistant Secretary.  I have personally known her work at the SCMA where she served as the YPS Trustee for 4 years, then 4 years as Vice speaker followed by 4 years as Speaker.  She started the residents/student poster presentation back in 2005 that continues today. She also spent 18 years on the CME committee, the last three years as chair. She was a tireless advocate for  physicians at the SC State House working on various issues for the house of medicine.  But let me not stop there because I need to mention her long years of service to our ASA. She Spent 14 year on our Membership Committee and 4 years on Communications which are committees of jurisdiction for the Secretary.  She has also spent many years contributing to our advocacy efforts through Governmental Affairs committee and our ASAPAC board.  I know that she will proudly serve the ASA with integrity and hard work to promote Anesthesiology as a physician led practice of medicine.

"Without hesitation I give my support for Jennifer Root, MD, FASA in her effort to be elected as ASA Assistant Secretary. Jennifer moved to South Carolina a few short years after the SCSA came into prominence among the various medical societies in our state. She quickly volunteered to serve and within a few years rose to President of the SCSA. She is tireless in her advocacy for the specialty of anesthesiology and for the House of Medicine in general. She is one of our go to physicians for all things. She is an excellent speaker and presenter. She has served South Carolina as our ASA Director until this year, after she announced her run for ASA Assistant Secretary. The ASA will be in great hands with Dr. Jennifer Root in this new role for her at the ASA."
